Our approach

How we work in this area

Orthopedic and trauma physiotherapy is for people who have been injured or had surgery and need to regain movement, strength and confidence to get back to their routine. It covers everything from the day the cast or sling comes off to the moment you can climb stairs, drive or carry weight without fear.

Treatment starts gently, respecting the healing time of bone and soft tissue, and becomes more intense as your body responds. Each phase has a different goal, and that's what prevents both the rush that leads to reinjury and the slow pace that leaves lasting problems.

What we treat

Common reasons people come to us

  • Rehab after orthopedic surgery

Rehabilitation after knee, shoulder, hip, ankle and spine surgery, following the protocol set by your surgeon.

  • Fractures and immobilization

Recovering mobility and strength after weeks in a cast, splint or sling.

  • Knee injuries

Cruciate ligament and meniscus injuries, chondromalacia and pain at the front of the knee when going up and down stairs.

  • Shoulder injuries

Rotator cuff problems, bursitis, tendinitis and a shoulder that locks up or hurts when you raise your arm.

  • Spine

Herniated discs, lower back pain and neck pain, with a focus on relieving symptoms and retraining movement.

  • Sprains and strains

Ankle, wrist and muscle injuries that need a gradual return to activity.

Step by step

How treatment works

  1. Initial assessment

The first session is a conversation and an exam. We get to know your complaint, your history, any imaging tests you have and what you need to get back to doing in your daily life.

  2. Treatment plan

Based on the assessment, we put together a plan with clear goals, setting how often you'll come in and what you'll also do at home.

  3. Supervised sessions

Every session takes place with a physiotherapist present, correcting your technique and adjusting the load according to how you respond to treatment.

  4. Reassessment

Every so often we measure pain, strength and movement again to see whether the plan is working or needs to change.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we often hear

  • When can I start physiotherapy after surgery?

It depends on the procedure and on your surgeon's guidance. In many cases rehabilitation starts within the first few days, with light exercises. Bring your surgical report to the assessment and we'll adjust the plan to what was recommended.

  • Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy?

In Brazil, physiotherapists can assess and treat you without a referral. Even so, if you have a medical report, prescription or imaging results, bring them along: they help us put together a more precise plan.

  • How many sessions will I need?

We can only tell you after the assessment, because it varies a lot with the type of injury and how long it's been since the surgery or injury. You'll leave the first session with an estimate and clear goals.
