Our approach

How we work in this area

People who train don't just want the pain to stop, they want to get back to running, playing or surfing at the same level. That changes the treatment: besides treating the injury, we need to prepare your body for the movements of your sport, with jumping, changes of direction and loading at the speed your sport demands.

Going back too soon is the main cause of reinjury. That's why we work with progression criteria, not just a date on the calendar. You move on to the next phase when you pass the tests, not when the month changes.

What we treat

Common reasons people come to us

  • Ankle sprains

From the acute phase through to balance and change of direction work, which is what prevents the next sprain.

  • Knee injuries

ACL and meniscus injuries and patellofemoral pain in runners and team sport players.

  • Muscle injuries

Hamstring, calf and groin injuries, with a gradual return to running and sprinting.

  • Athlete's shoulder

Overload in overhead sports such as volleyball, swimming and tennis.

  • Running injuries

Shin splints, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy and pain linked to increasing training volume too quickly.

  • Injury prevention

Strength and motor control work for people who've been injured before and don't want history to repeat itself.

Step by step

How treatment works

  1. Initial assessment

The first session is a conversation and an exam. We get to know your complaint, your history, any imaging tests you have and what you need to get back to doing in your daily life.

  2. Treatment plan

Based on the assessment, we put together a plan with clear goals, setting how often you'll come in and what you'll also do at home.

  3. Supervised sessions

Every session takes place with a physiotherapist present, correcting your technique and adjusting the load according to how you respond to treatment.

  4. Reassessment

Every so often we measure pain, strength and movement again to see whether the plan is working or needs to change.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we often hear

  • Can I keep training during treatment?

Most of the time, yes, with some adjustments. It's usually better to keep doing what doesn't hurt and cut back only on what makes it worse, rather than stopping everything. We decide this during the assessment.

  • When is it safe to compete again?

When you pass the strength, jumping and movement tests specific to your sport, with only a small difference between the injured side and the other. Time alone isn't a criterion.

  • Do you treat recreational runners?

Yes. Many of our sports physiotherapy cases are people who run for fun and picked up the pace too quickly.
